Oldlogs.exe - Delete Old Log Files Utility

Program Description: The utility OLDLOGS.EXE is a utility used to automatically delete old log files so that your PC does not fill up.  The program can then delete any old logs depending upon how you set it up, so your disk does not become full.

Running the Program from DOS: You can run the program manually from DOS by copying the program into the directory where your log files are stored and issuing a command based upon the following syntax:

Oldlogs Command	Description
oldlogs.exe /?	Displays the syntax of commands that can be used with the oldlogs.exe command.
OLDLOGS 999 [*.LOG] [ZIP]	Basic syntax of the oldlogs command.  This is the same information that the oldlogs.exe /? will give you.  The second and third parameter shown in brackets are optional. 999 Number of days to retain or keep on-line.  Everything older than this will be deleted. [*.LOG] This parameter is optional.  It tells the system what type of file to delete.  The system defaults to files ending in .LOG.  Do not type the brackets when using the parameter. ZIP This optional parameter tells the system to ZIP the file(s) using pkzip before it deletes them.
OLDLOGS 90	Example:  Deletes all log files older than 90 days
OLDLOGS 90 *.LOG ZIP	Example: Deletes all log files older then 90 days, but zips them to an archive file first.
OLDLOGS 120 *.TXT	Example: Deletes all files older than 120 days that end with a .TXT extension

Adding a Shortcut for the Utility to Window 95:

    1. First you need to add a batch file to run the utility.   Add a bath file in the logfiles directory named DELOLD.BAT.

             In that file put the following commands:

• CLS
• CD\
• CD\CA33\LOGFILES
• CALL OLDLOGS 90
• REM THE FOLLOWING LINE IS OPTIONAL IF YOU WANT TO PURGE CALL FILES AS WELL
• REM CALL OLDLOGS 90 *.DBF
• REM CALL OLDLOGS 90 *.CDX

    2. Next, add a shortcut to the desktop and put the batch file name in as the command line:

             [c:\ca33\logfiles\delold.bat]

    3. Name the shortcut Delete Old Logs.  This is very important so the scheduler can find it!

    4. Add to the scheduler using the instructions below.

Automating Oldlogs from the Scheduler using Windows 95:   Before you can add oldlogs to the scheduler, you first need to add a shortcut for it.  The instructions above show you how to add a shortcut for the oldlogs program.   You will call the shortcut program from the scheduler as follows:

1- Create a Shortcut for the Oldlogs Program.  See the instructions above if you need assistance adding a shortcut.

2- Start the Scheduler Program

3- On the PROGRAM line, put the link name for the shortcut that you created in step 1 above.  If I added a shortcut to the Comm One Software Folder named Delete Old Logs, I would put [c:\windows\desktop\common~1\delete~1.pif] in the program line of the scheduler.

4- Next click on the time and date icon and select the time and date, as well as frequency with which you want to run the oldlogs program.

5- Next from the scheduler window, select ADD to add the new event.  You will see it show up on the bottom of the scheduler screen.  To test run it, select it on the bottom of your screen and click on TEST RUN.

6- If you already have an event scheduled to run the scheduler, you can edit it by selecting it on the bottom of the scheduler, making changes to the parameters, then click on CHANGE instead of ADD to save your changes.

This will install the oldlogs program as a scheduled event.  This utility is normally used together with the cp_purge.exe utility.

splitca.exe - Split Calls Into Months Utility

The utility SPLITCA.EXE is used when you have processed more than one months call logs into a single months file (plm_ca.dbf). This utility removes the prior months call records from the current file, and names it with the month and year as the file name. This can save a lot of time over manually copying out logs with the toolbox module.

To install the utility, copy the splitca.zip file to your call accounting directory and unzip it using pkunzip.  Next you run the utility by running the splitca.exe program.  The system will go through your current call file (plm_ca.dbf), and separate out your calls by month.  Each month will be named 01.dbf for January, 02.dbf for February, etc.  Depending upon how many calls you have on-line, this utility can take a while.  When the utility is done, you can use the Windows Explorer to rename the logs as needed.

makecdx.exe - Make Call File Index Utility

The utility MAKECDX.EXE is used to rebuild the index files for a single months call file. The file you rebuild must be a valid call file or the process will not run. Some users were archiving the .DBF files for a particular months call files without the associated .CDX file. This utility allows you to rebuild the index file for any call database used by Call Accounting Pro.

Non-Graphical Call Accounting Jr. Report Files

The file carpt1.zip  is a non-graphical version of the standard Call Accounting Jr. System reports.  These reports work better with a dot matrix printer than the standard system reports.  Download the file and save it in the same directory as your existing reports.

Updated Call Detail Report for Call Accounting Pro

The file carpt2.zip is an updated version of the Standard Detail Report for Call Accounting Pro.  It adds a total # of calls field as well as adds support for user defined fields automatically showing up on the detail report.  To load, simply save the file into your call accounting directory and unzip it.  Then, overwrite any files with the same file name if asked.

deldup.exe - Delete Duplicate Call Utility

DESCRIPTION: This file contains a delete file utility for removing duplicate records from your call records.  Normally, the duplicate detection features of the call processing will not allow any duplicate call records to appear in the monthly logs.  If calls are imported, or for a number of other reasons, it is possible to duplicate calls in the call file.  This utility will allow you to easily remove them from your call files. 

INSTALLATION:  To install the utility, copy it to your Call Accounting directory and unzip it with pkunzip.

TO RUN THE UTILITY:  To run the utility, just run deldup.exe.  The utility will run and ask you what file you want to check.  You have to select a valid Call Accounting Pro call file with the same file format as the current month or plm_ca.dbf.  You can select a prior month if needed as well.   The utility will check the file and remove any duplicated call records from it.
